I am a Japanese castle explorer focused on places where castles no longer stand.

My interest lies not only in grand towers or well-preserved stone walls, but also in the traces left behind—earthworks, slopes, altered terrain, and silence.

Many castles of Japan’s Sengoku period were built quickly, used briefly, and abandoned just as fast.

Their remains are often subtle, overlooked, or dismissed as “nothing left.”

I believe otherwise.

By walking these sites and reading the land itself, I seek to understand the human decisions, conflicts, ambitions, and fears that once shaped them.

A castle does not need to survive as a structure to retain meaning.

Even when buildings vanish, history continues to speak through the ground beneath our feet.

Sengoku Castle Explorer is a record of those fleeting strongholds and the stories that persist where they once stood.
